Capture so many large frames per second, all the sound, compress and save it to a hard disk, while at the same time running another program - whatever it is you are trying to record. You're running into a limitation of what the computer can do at the same time. This program runs so much better than the other recording programs I've tried, but getting it to work is starting to tick me off. Pinpointing the ideal codec, framerate and key frame settings seems mighty close to an impossibility for me.

Even then, when I get it right, it ends up being desynced. What works fine on one program, doesn't work with another. No matter what programs I use, something almost always has to be changed (such as the codec). Is there a certain formula that I have to follow? Or in other words, do the Framerate, Key Frames, Capture Ratio values have to be a certain ratio or what? Like 30, 1, 30? Or 1000/5 = 200? I'm at a loss here. I have even used interleaving to change the milliseconds in hopes of syncing the sound, and that didn't work too well either.

I have followed many guides on how to use VirtualDub to rectify these issues (adjusting the framerate, sound, etc) but to no avail. In fact it runs as if it were at 120fps, but the sound plays, just way out of sync. With the same program, running at a resolution of 640x480, the video recorded at 30fps runs 30fps with HuffyYUV, but the file size is enormous (60s = +/-1.0GB) whereas Xvid, running at 30fps does not play back at the recorded framerate.

Recording 30fps works perfectly fine on Codec A, but not on Code B (such as Xvid versus HuffyYUV). So here are the issue I'm currently experience with hypercam and recording game play off of some programs.
